About
The primary goal of newscycle.report is to provide a non-distracting user interface for consuming and scanning news headlines at scale. This means a UI with a high information density (signal-to-noise ratio), allowing users to scan headlines from multiple news sources at once and form a broad context of related story items.
Furthermore, this web application offers many additional features:
- Easily search through all subscribed news sources by searching the text on the current page, using built-in browser functionality for simplicity.
- On demand news article summarization and critical analysis attempting to fact-check claims and raise red flags to questionable claims.
- Creation of ignore keyword list and highlight keyword list to focus your attention on terms that are highlighted on the front page.
- Save individual news articles into personalized curated lists that users can either share publicly or keep private.
- Customize the news feeds that appear on an authenticated user's front page.
- Collapse or expand individual news sources as needed to display only a subset of subscribed sources.
- Provide a non-bloated, minimal front-end that uses vanilla JavaScript with no large dependencies to download.
Any new features added to this web application will be documented here with updates noted by their date of release. The remainder of this document further details the major features summarized above.
